Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic who is also a speech writer. Feminist Frequency is a channel that hosts videos, commentaries and analysis of the way in which popular culture portrays women. Anita Sarkeesian a Canadian American media critic. She is the creator and director of executive for Feminist Frequency which is an education, non-profit site that examines the representation of women within popular culture narratives. Aiming to dispel the myths of women that exist in pop culture, she has also been working to address issues relating to gender-specific harassment of women as well as other classes of people online. Holding a master's degree in social and political thought at York University Sarkeesian is also an extremely sought-after public speaking engagement and has given speech at the TEDxWomen Festival as well as at The United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. From an early age, Sarkeesian was fascinated by issues of gender identity and feminist thought. While still at school in 2009 she started her Feminist Frequency website. It was a girl determined to make the series of videos on the internet to examine the gender roles in video games. However, she became the target of cyber-bullying. The harassment didn't dissuade her. It only strengthened her as a journalist who is feminist. Her many notable contributions in the field of feminist are recognized with numerous prizes. Anita Sarkeesian, a media critic who has won many awards, and also founded Feminist Frequency which is an educational non-profit that examines how women are represented in the popular culture stories.
