At the age of 16, she appeared on the TV show Wipeout. Ariel made headlines for the episode where she questioned a poster she could not see but was right in front of her. The interest of the public in this young girl led the producers to approach the Tweto family with the idea of an actual series about their experience in Alaskan wilderness. Her father Jim doubts the idea but is willing to give permission for the camera to shoot in his office. Era Alaska, his aviation company as a bush pilot, is still in operation. Flying Wild Alaska, a reality TV show that aired on Discovery Channel, was a massive success because it revealed that the Twetos struggle in running their aviation company. Living in an environment that resembles the Wild West of early times is fascinating to many Americans. For those who are fans of the Twetos will be able to rejoice their triumphs along with them, and experience their sorrow when they fall. With Jim at the pilot's seat, and his wife Ferno managing things on the ground, the family never is left without the action. Ariel is a positive character throughout all of this. Ariel later assumes the running of the family's flying business on the passing from her father. Alaskans are full of concern over the seven-fold growth in suicide among adolescents. Ariel's response to this was co-founding a charity known as Popping Bubbles in which she visits schools and other events for teens to educate them on the reasons why they need to have an interest in life and achieve their goals instead of falling into depression.
